Katherine Hinson Philbeck, age 88

Katherine Hinson Philbeck, age 88, of Bostic, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015.

She was born May 31, 1927 in Bostic, NC, and was a daughter of the late Edward and Eva Mace Hinson and was the wife of the late Jack Edward Philbeck. She was a faithful member of Corinth Baptist Church where she had served on various church committees and worked in Bible School.

Mrs. Philbeck was a graduate of Cool Springs High School and a board member of the Old Tryon Genealogical Society, was a member of the DAR and Home Demonstration Club, was named Mrs. Senior Citizen of Rutherford County, and judged antiques at the Cleveland County Fair. She was a doll collector and was member of the Madame Alexander Doll Club. Katherine was a loving mother and grandmother and loved sharing with others and was an excellent cook.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters Mary Lowery and Margaret Ledbetter, and a brother Edward Hinson, Jr.

Survivors include her, Daughter Kathy Jolley of Luray, VA (husband, Charles)Son Eddie Philbeck of Bostic, NC (wife, Rita, who gave unselfish, loving care to Mrs. Philbeck for many years) and son Scott Philbeck of Kennewick, WA, her sister Mavis Stewart of Asheville, NC, Grandchildren: Lara Tan (Keith), Sara Peterson (Jim), Jessica Collins (Chris), Amanda Hill (Dustin), Jeremy Philbeck and Jennifer Baker, and, granddaughter through love, (Keck). Great-grandchildren: Rachel, Jordan, and Caedmon Tan; Jack, Anna, Katherine, Henry, and Simon Peterson; Chloe Collins; Haven and Kinley Hill; Annabelle Baker, and Special friends: Billie Ann Freeman, Nellie Smith.

Funeral services were held in the Corinth Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Conner, Reverend Ad Hopper and Dr. Charles Jolley officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.

The Padgett and King Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
