Laverne Padgett Laws, age 94

Laverne Padgett Laws, age 94, of Spindale, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018.

Laverne was born July 19, 1924 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Willie Paul Padgett and Maudie Butler Padgett Ruppe. She worked in textiles for several years and was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and playing bingo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Laws; three sons, Donnie Laws, Jerry Laws and Roy Laws; two daughters, Judy Norman and Brenda K. Hoppes and a great-granddaughter.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Ronnie Laws and wife, Melissa of Morganton and Tony Laws of Ellenboro; daughter, Janice Dyer of Ruth; three sisters, Doris Pryor, Martha Googe, both of Spindale and Frances Travis of Hickory. She is also survived by twenty-six grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service was conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel. Interment followed the service in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.
