Lawrence Keever, age 71

Lawrence Keever, age 71, of Rutherfordton, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014.

Born March 6, 1943 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Jesse Fidel Keever and Myrtle Susan Smith Keever. Lawrence worked as a truck driver for Thompson Contractors most of his life and enjoyed driving race cars and watching NASCAR. He was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers.

Survivors include two sons, Jeremy Keever and David Keever and wife, Kim all of Forest City; step-son, Derek Keever and wife, Seiko of Shanghai, China; four brothers, George Keever and wife, Judy of Spindale, Grover Keever and wife, Johnnie, Claude Keever and wife, Geneva and Steve Keever and wife, Donna all of Rutherfordton; two sisters, Vivian Pierce and husband, Jackie of Wilson, NC and Eileen Gillespie of Myrtle Beach, SC; two granddaughters, Aubry Keever and Cheyenne Keever; three step-grandchildren, Bradley, Heather and Ellye Keever and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at Gray’s Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Bryan Ezell officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC  28043. 

The family wishes to thank Noel Sisk for her compassionate role as a caretaker for the last several years.
