Lena “Granny” Jones Shell, 91

Lena “Granny” Jones Shell, 91, of Ellenboro, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2012.

A native of Rutherford County, she was born on July 30, 1920, a daughter of the late Austin and Nola Wilson Jones. She was retired from Stone Cutter Mills. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one son, Melvin Lee Earley; her brothers and sisters, Frank Jones, Thomas Jones, Henry Jones, and Betty Edwards. She is survived by her son, Druary Jones and wife Frances of Ellenboro; one brother, Edmond Lee Jones of Forest City; one sister, Martha Ann Bailey of Ellenboro; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; seventeen great-great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at the A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Rickey Poteat and Rev. Scott Houston officiating. Burial followed at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
