Madeleine Scruggs Hardin, age 87

Madeleine Scruggs Hardin, age 87 passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017.

She was a native of Rutherford County, a retired sales clerk and was a member of Spindale United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Cleveland Hardin, parents Hollis Scruggs, Sr. and Odessa Padgett Scruggs, brothers Jack Scruggs and Jerry Scruggs, sister Violet Newton, nephews Jeff Scruggs and Roger Newton, and her beloved cat Millie.

Madeleine is survived by her brother Hollis Scruggs, Jr. and his wife Glenda; nieces - Mim Hester and husband Sammy, Elizabeth Owens; nephews Robbie Scruggs and Dusty Scruggs; sister-in-law Joyce Scruggs; special friends Dan and Phyllis Briscoe, Monea Hines as well as a number of other relatives and church family.

Funeral services were held at Crowe's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ross O'Neal officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Rutherford County Hospice P.O. Box 336 Forest City, NC 28043 or to The Community Pet Center; 578 Laurel Hill Drive, Rutherfordton NC 28139.

Crowe's Mortuary is assisting the family.
