Is Saturday morning a rush of weekend chores and sporting events with the kids? Or maybe after a hard week at your job, you just want to sleep in on Saturday morning. Even though you would really love to pick up some trout from Deer Valley Farms, or some jams from Aunt Wendy's Kitchen, you are just too tired to get up early and go to the Farmers Market. Good News, you can enjoy local products and items from some of your favorite Farmers Market vendors and still sleep in on Saturday morning. The Main Street Market is collaborating with our local Farmers Market and other area farmers to bring products to their Market at 211 N. Main Street Rutherfordton. The Market features a variety of locally sourced goods and products including local craft beer and wine. With their passionate "buy local" focus, you will find many products on their Market shelves. It is a great place to find local breads, herbs and spices, honey, jams and jellies, and other items produced locally in Rutherford County. Shopping at the Main Street Market is a great way to shop local, support local farmers, and accommodate your schedule. The market opens each day at 11am.

However, if you don't mind getting up on Saturday morning and are looking for a fun experience, The Main Street Market also hosts the Winter Farmers Market. The Winter Market opens at 8am on the first and third Saturdays of the month. It's a festive and hectic shopping experience. Last Market day, they were serving Mimosas. Unlike the usual outdoor winter markets where you need to bundle up to stay warm, it's held inside, so you remain nice and toasty warm. Grab a cup of coffee (or a Mimosa) and a breakfast sandwich at the counter and browse locally grown produce, meats, honey and crafts.

The Main Street Market is not only a Market, it is also a deli that offers fresh sandwiches, salads, and other seasonal items. They serve delicious deli food by day and Bread & Wine, a premium wine bar by night; both featuring local fare from local growers and other small businesses. We visited the Market during the week to check out the products and order a meal.

The food was delicious, the ambiance was great, and they had live entertainment. It was a fun evening out. They host various events during the week such as live music, wine and cupcake pairings, as well as the Winter Farmers Market. Check out their Facebook page to see what the have on their schedule.

This endeavor is the brainchild of owners Travis and Allyson Smith and Rob and Beth Burbank. These folks are not your typical shop owners and the Main Street Market is not your typical sandwich shop and market. They not only use as many locally sourced products as they possibly can, they donate 50% of their profit to support Blue Ridge Hope. Making money and doing good at the same time. They decided to utilize an existing business to create a revenue stream that benefits the community They are devoted to providing training and employment for those who are changing their lives for the better by working with Blue Ridge Hope and their clients, as well as other local organizations and colleges. If over the holidays, you are looking for something fun to do, as well as support a good cause, consider attending an event at the Main Street Market or just stop in for a delicious lunch.
