Mamie Viola Dickerson

Mamie Viola Dickerson of Charlotte, formerly of Rutherfordton, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016.

A native of Rutherford county, she was the daughter of the late Bynum and Hattie Wilkerson Whiteside. She was a faithful and longtime member of Gold Hill Baptist Church and was very active in Sunday school, Missionary Society, Senior Choir and was a Deaconess.

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Marian Whiteside of Charlotte; one granddaughter and three great-grandchildren, all of Charlotte. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. She also served as a mother figure to Joe Moore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George Dickerson, brothers, Willie, James, Lois and Grady Whiteside, and sisters, Alma Carpenter and Mae Bridges.

Funeral services were held at Crowe's Mortuary. Burial will be private.
