Margaret Marshall, age 83, of Forest City, NC, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014.

Born September 26, 1930 in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Kelly Preston Hamrick and Lula Holland Hamrick.  Margaret was a graduate of Cool Springs High School, class of 1948 and a longtime member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, canning and especially loved taking care of her grandchildren.  A visitor at Margaret’s house would always be given the “Royal Treatment” which meant plenty of food and good conversation.  She was kindhearted and was always meeting people’s needs.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and best friend of sixty-one years, William “Rex” Marshall; son, William Preston Marshall and three brothers, Spurgeon, Vonn and Paul Hamrick.  

Survivors include her daughter, Ann Marshall of Forest City; son, Roger Marshall and wife, Linda of Casar, NC; daughter-in-law, Lynn Marshall of South Boston, VA; five grandchildren, Kelly Marshall of Ellenboro, Chris Marshall and wife, Ashley of Forest City, Brittnay Marshall of Raleigh, Brandon Marshall of Mocksville, NC and Amy Marshall of South Boston and granddaughter-in-law, Micah Marshall of Forest City.  She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Slade Cook, Hannah Marshall, Maggie Marshall, Will Marshall, Zeke Marshall, Preston Marshall and a special nephew, Keith Marshall and wife, Nancy of Shiloh Community.

Funeral services were conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Lanny J. Funchess officiating.  Interment followed in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.
