Martha Ann King Roach Novak, age 86

Martha Ann King Roach Novak, age 86, of Forest City passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015. 

She was born May 7, 1928 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late James Thomas and Wilma Stalnaker King.  Martha Ann was a graduate of Cool Springs High School Class of 1945 and served as Executive Secretary of the Forest City Chamber of Commerce where she retired with more than 25 years service. Following her retirement, she worked for Southeastern Eye Center driving patients to and from their appointments and was a member of the Rutherford Hospital Auxiliary for many years.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Lee "Jimmy" Roach in 1989, her second husband, Jim Novak, and her beloved son, Thomas Madison Roach in February of this year as well as brothers, Tommy King and Al King.

                  Survivors include two sons, Timothy Scott Roach, Sr. of Rutherfordton, Benjamin Lee Roach and wife Judith Browne Roach of Raleigh, brother, Rudolph Lee King of Dunn, NC, sister, Carole King Womble and husband Wilson of High Point, NC, seven grandchildren, Scott Roach, Leslie Roach, Erin Roach Gentry, Bryan Roach, Timothy Scott Roach, Jr., William Roach, and Stuart Roach, and three great-grandchildren, Grayson Scruggs, Landon Roach, and Camden Gentry.

A memorial service was held in the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. J. O'Neil Haynes officiating.  Interment followed in the Cool Springs Cemetery.

The family is grateful to the congregations of First United Methodist Church of Forest City and Rutherfordton for the care and love shown to Martha Ann and respectfully request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, 341 E. Main St. Forest City, NC 28043 or First United Methodist Church, 264 N. Main St. Rutherfordton, NC 28139.
