Martha Elizabeth Castillo, 92 of Key Largo FL, passed away on February 15, 2018.

Martha was born on August 18, 1925 in Miami, Florida where she grew up and she resided, until she became a resident of Key Largo, Florida for the last 40+ years.

She is survived by her daughter Paulette Castillo Mick and Son-in-Law John C. Mick of Rutherfordton; a granddaughter and her husband of Lake Lure. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Alfred "Fred" E. Castillo; her father Nikola J. Winkelmann and her mother Eunice D. Logan-Winkelmann; sister Dorothy E. Winkelmann and brother James R. Winkelmann. She leaves behind many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Family Friends who were very dear to her.

Martha was a Life Member and past President of the Ladies' Auxiliary, to the VFW Post 10211 in Key Largo, Florida She was also a Member of the American Legion, Moose and Miami Pioneer Club. She loved animals and donated her time and fundraised to support the Humane Society of Key Largo. She was very gifted at sewing, knitting, crocheting, arts & crafts, and enjoyed cooking. She designed and built several "Buddy Poppy" displays for the Annual VFW Convention contest, to represent Post 10211. For years she worked with her husband, delivering the Miami Herald in Key Largo; she was known as "Paperdoll". She had a heart of gold and a smile that would light up a room. She loved music, dancing, and was an avid bingo player. Her family and friends will miss her dearly!

A graveside service was held at Flagler Memorial Park in Miami, Florida. Martha and Fred will be laid to rest together. Branam Funeral Home in Homestead handled the arrangements.

A "Celebration of Life" was held at Blackwater Siren Grill in Key Largo, FL.

Crowe's Mortuary and Crematory assisted with arrangements.
