Mary Hughes McCurry, age 95

Mary Hughes McCurry, age 95, of Ellenboro, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014.

Born February 24, 1919 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Elsberry Hughes & Mary Ramoth Hawkins Hughes. Mary was a graduate of Tri-High School, class of 1936 & worked at the Henrietta & Avondale Mills. She was also one of the last living charter members of Temple Baptist Church & a current member of the First Baptist Church of Forest City. Mary was a member of the Cliffside Order of the Eastern Star-Chapter #100.  She enjoyed travelling and sightseeing along with being active at her home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Elmer McCurry, three sisters and six brothers.

Survivors include one son, Edward McCurry of Ellenboro; caretakers, Lois Johnston and Debra Holland; her special friends, the Lewis family and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Alan Quarles officiating. Interment followed in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
