Mary Vickers Tessneer, age 81

Mary Vickers Tessneer, age 81, of Bostic, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2016.

Born on Thursday, December 27, 1934 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter to the late Charlie Baxter Vickers and Eva Mae Champion Vickers. She was a homemaker most of her life and had worked in textiles for several years. Mary was a faithful member of Sandy Level Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, needle work, cooking and was an active member of the Rutherford County Senior Center. She especially loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Ray Tessneer; one sister, Gertrude Emory and brother, C.B. Vickers; two sister-in-laws, Margie Vickers and Ruth Vickers and an infant grandson.

Survivors include one son, Kim Tessneer of Bostic and his fiancé, Cathy Lanford of Boiling Springs, SC; brother, Joe Vickers of Henrietta; two sisters, Alice Vickers, Ruth Bradley and husband, George all of Henrietta. She is also survived by two granddaughters and four great-grandsons.

Funeral services were conducted at Sandy Level Baptist Church with Reverend David Barton officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

The family wishes to thank Cathy, Mary's primary caretaker, for her care and compassion during the last days of her battle with cancer.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Rutherford County Senior Center, 193 Callahan Koon Road, Spindale, NC 28160 or to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.

Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
