Mattie Jane Dessie Elms Hopper, 96

Mattie Jane Dessie Elms Hopper, 96, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017.

She was a native of Rutherford County, a daughter of the late Lhorne and Candace Elms. A member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, she attended Harmon Street Baptist Church. She retired from Mastercraft Corp. at age 75 after working there 25 years. She was "Granny" to her family and friends and loved the Meals on Wheels volunteers. She was the widow of Claude Hopper. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Judy Day and Faye Greene, one son, Ricky Hopper; also two brothers, Roy and Paul Elms, two sisters, Bessie Mae Elms and Ada Williams, two grandsons. She is survived by one daughter, Linda Harris (and the late Dan) of Forest City; son Warren Hopper and Martha of Bostic; and son Eddie Hopper of Seminole, Florida. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

There will be no formal funeral services.
