Mavis Louise Cannon Jones, 82, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2012.
A native of Rutherford County, she was born May 23, 1930, a daughter of the late Russell C. and Essie Burgess Cannon. Mavis was a homemaker and a member of Caroleen Missionary Methodist Church. She loved to quilting sewing, cooking and talking on the telephone.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Joseph Lawson Jones.
She is survived by one sister Nadine Scruggs and husband George of Forest City; two brothers, Grady Cannon and wife Bonnie of Forest City and Donald Cannon and wife Betty of Shelby; a host of Nieces nephews and special friends.
Funeral services were held at the A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Rickey Poteat and Rev. Bob Philbeck officiating. Burial followed at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
