Mayfest

In addition to all the wonderful family fun things presented annually for free admission by Mayfest in Rutherfordton, a big and new event is being presented this year. It will be added as another annual event and expand the Mayfest to the bottom of the main street and around the corner. The new sponsor annually will be Gregory’s Original Restaurant and it will encase the entire parking lot in front of the restaurant. The new Mega Show will include a huge display of cars from 10am to 4pm and then the popular bike night from 5pm to 10pm followed by live entertainment by one of North Carolinas most popular and talented rock bands, “Twist Of Fate”! Over 50 prizes will be given away with cash for the top three. Registration is 9am to 12 noon. Voting will take place from 12:30 to 2:30pm and awards at 3:30pm. Saturday, May 3rd it all begins at 8:30am.

Mayfest has been going on since 1972. This popular street festival has free admission. Food vendors, local arts and crafts, music and dancing in the street as well as lots of kid friendly activities are all part of the big show sponsored by the town of Rutherfordton and Rutherford Town Revitalization. From 9am to 5pm the uptown activities will take place and the almost never ending new and spectacular Mega Car & Bike Show and Entertainment is the place to be if you are seeking a bevy of cars, motorcycles and fabulous live entertainment. Lawn chairs and portable sitting are recommended. No coolers or outside beverages, please. The new added activities are designed for fun, relaxation and to continue to make Mayfest ‘the very best!”
