Melvin Dobbins, age 76

Melvin Dobbins, age 76, of Mooresboro, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019.

Melvin was born January 6, 1943 in Rutherford County to the late Kenneth Melvin Dobbins and Mary Lee Dixon Dobbins. He was a graduate of Crest High School, class of 1961 and worked at Hoechst-Celanese for thirty-eight years before retirement. Melvin was a lifetime member of Trinity Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and on various committees. He was member of the Cliffside Masonic Lodge #460 for forty-one years, a Master Mason and served as treasurer for twenty-nine years. Melvin loved spending time with his family and was an avid fisherman.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of almost fifty-nine years, Kay Dobbins and one daughter, Kathy Felker and husband, Mike of Waterloo, Iowa; two sisters, Diane Buchanan of Butner, NC and Sybil Beason and husband, Ed of Mooresboro. He is also survived by one grandson; one great-grandson; nephew, Chris Beason of Mooresboro and Melvin's beloved pet, Lucy.

A funeral service was conducted at Trinity Baptist Church. Interment with Masonic Rites was conducted in the church cemetery.
