Mildred Louise Humphries Carroll, 85, of Shelby, passed away on Friday, November 08, 2013. 

A native of Cherokee County, South Carolina, she was born on January 13, 1928, a daughter of the late Luther and Minnie Robinson Humphries. She was retired from Artex. Mildred was a longtime member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and member of the Velda Holbrook Sunday School Class. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Carroll was a care-giver for her husband, Dillard, for many years before he passed away. Mildred was a caring, kind, and friendly person with a wonderful sense of humor; she loved working in her yard and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Alfred Dillard Carroll; five sisters and one brother.

She is survived by her daughter, June Carroll Lail and husband Tim of Shelby; two sons, Steve Carroll and wife Lyn of Cliffside and John Carroll and wife Beth of Boiling Springs; one brother, Lewis Humphries and wife Brenda of Gaffney; her grandchildren, Britt Carroll and wife Whitney of Newton, Brad Lail of Brooklyn, NY, Katie Lail of Boiling Springs, Lyndsay Carroll Dover and husband Matt of Spartanburg, Alex Carroll of Cliffside, and Madelyn and Emma Carroll, both of Boiling Springs; two sisters-in-law, Olive Carroll Freeman and Mallie Carroll, both of Shelby.

Funeral services were held at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. J. Eric Davis and Rev. Andy Oliver officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
