Mildred Tate Scruggs, age 92, of Forest City, NC, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013.

Born June 26, 1921 in Rutherford County, NC, she was a daughter of the late W.C. Tate and Myrtle Reid Tate.  She worked for Fieldcrest Mills for most of her life and was served as the Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star Cliffside Chapter #100.  She was also a lifetime member of Floyd’s Creek Baptist Church where she faithfully served as a pianist and organist for many years.  Mildred loved to cook, enjoyed studying history and especially loved music.   

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delvo Scruggs; brother, Alton Tate; four sisters, Doris Price, Pinkney Green, Ruth Tate and Mabel Tate; nephew, James Price and niece, Laura Huffstetler.

Survivors include three nieces, Diane Pope of Lowell, NC, Annette Green of Jamestown, NC and Janice Huffstetler of Belmont, NC. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and a number of great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted with Reverend Jim Diehl and Reverend Robert Carnell officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
