Appalachia Service Project, a Christian ministry open to all people, will provide a summer home repair program in Rutherford County.

The Johnson City, Tenn., based nonprofit will arrive in Rutherford County in early June, and over the seven week program will help between 10 and 15 families with free home repairs like wheelchair ramps, new roofs, foundation repairs, windows, flooring, insulation and more. ASP will work closely with Rutherford Housing Partnership, said ASP Regional Coordinator Laura Kelly.

"We'll be working on homes with high school and adult volunteers from June 12-July 29," Kelly said. "We anticipate getting close to 500 volunteers to come through the county."

Repairs are completed at no cost to applicants, Kelly explained, thanks to a generous donor base and volunteers. Community members and homeowners are invited to spend time with volunteers and help if they are able.

ASP serves homeowners and renters with proper documentation and landlord approval. If you are interested in applying for the program, visit ASPhome.org/apply. Applications can also be mailed; please call 423-854-8800.
