Minnie Arlene Riddle Kemick, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017.

Arlene was born October 16, 1935 in Yancey County. She was a member of Queen of the Aspostles Roman Catholic Church in Belmont. In her youth she moved to Washington DC to work and met Gerald Thomas Kemick who she married on May 5, 1958. She worked in the accounting department for Belk Department Stores where she retired. She and her husband later moved to Rutherford County where they spent the remainder of their lives. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Lina Lester Riddle, brothers and sister, Wayne Ramsey, Betty Jean Peterson, Don Ramsey, Eugene Ramsey, James Ramsey, and Phillip Ramsey as well as her husband, Capt. Gerald Thomas Kemick, USMC, Rtd. who died in 2016.

Survivors include her son, Lester (Butch) Kemick and his wife Catharine of Rutherfordton, three grandchildren, four brothers, James Ramsey, Phillip Ramsey, Warren Ramsey, and Billie Ramsey, and two sisters, Alda Tipton and Maxine Cosby.

Funeral services were held at Bethel Baptist Church in Marion with Reverend Jimmy Upton officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

The Padgett and King Mortuary is in charge.
