Mr. Claude Gillie Atkinson, 77

Mr. Claude Gillie Atkinson, 77, of Mooresboro, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 24, 2017.

A native of Mooresboro, he was the loving husband to Sarah Leach Atkinson and the son of the late James Oliver Atkinson and Ivy Louella Allen Atkinson. He retired from John H. Montgomery Mills, was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church-Cleveland and he enjoyed tending to his 50-acre farm.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Robbins and son in-law, Donald Robbins; brother, Allen Atkinson of Boiling Springs, SC; and sister, Peggy Elliott of Caroleen.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Amanda Stancil and Eunice Poteat.

Funeral services were held at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church-Cleveland with Rev. Kevin Hamrick officiating. Burial was held in the Church Cemetery.
