Mr. Edwin C. Philbeck, 79

Mr. Edwin C. Philbeck, 79, of Mooresboro, went home to be with the Lord on March 6, 2017.

A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of Brisco Morgan Philbeck and Gladys Eve Lovelace Philbeck. He was a loom fixer for Esther Mills for over 40 years, was a member of Goodes Groves Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Philbeck was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, loved dancing and had a passion for music having played for various radio and TV shows, The Arthur Smith Show being his favorite.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Kimberly P. Wood (Bobby); long-time companion, Carolyn Jolley; brother, Wade Philbeck; four grandchildren; and by a life-long friend, Walt Kale. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Philbeck Dawson; brothers, Hubert, Hewitt, Morris and Max Philbeck; and sisters, Jenny Thompson, Avis Street, Vertie Dellinger and Doris Philbeck.

Funeral services were held at Goodes Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Hensley officiating. Burial followed in Cleveland Memorial Park with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Goodes Grove Baptist Church.
