Mr. Herman Eugene Green, 94, of Rutherfordton, NC passed away Friday, October 29, 2010. Services were held at Crowe’s Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed in the Ruthfordton City Cemetery with military honors provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
Mr. Green served our country in the U.S. Army, serving in WWII as an education officer in Europe and the Pacific theaters. He held the ranks of Captain and Major in the NC National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nollie D. and Florence Estelle Ramsey Green; and 2 children, Herman Green, Jr. (Buddy) and Michelle Harris.
He is survived by his wife, Marge Tedford Green of the home; 2 daughters, Pat Bennett and Rachel Bracebridge, both of Rutherfordton; 4 brothers, Bob Green of Cliffside, Ted Green of Gaffney, SC, Perry Green of Fountain Inn, SC and Bill Green of South Dakota; 2 sisters, Betty Koon of Lake Lure and O’neida German of Newport News, VA; 1 aunt, Myrtle Mashburn of Cliffside; 7 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Crowe’s Funeral Home, Rutherfordton, NC is serving the family.
