Mrs. Clara Marion Fowlkes Jewett age 84 passed away Friday March 11, 2016.

Clara was born in Drumright, OK and is a daughter of the late Grady and Katherine Hulme Fowlkes.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband of 27 years Clifford C. Jewett, her second husband of 24 years Hartley F. Jewett, three brothers Bob Fowlkes, Jack Fowlkes and Walter Fowlkes, special adopted son Dean Mayse and a grandson Christopher Jewett.

Mrs. Jewett is survived by her sons Steven Wayne Jewett of Rutherfordton, NC; Donald Jewett and his wife Karen of Glen Allen, VA; her daughters Karen Jewett Conner of Rutherfordton, NC; Sharon Jewett Jackson and her husband Doug of St. Petersburg, FL; and Leta Glenn of Minnesota; one broher Jerry Wayne Fowlkes and his wife Linda of Tulsa, OK; Sister-in-laws Sandra Fowlkes of Salisbury, MD and Sylvia Fowlkes of Pearland, TX; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren whom she called "grands"; special extended family - Thelma Lawrence of Grand Ridge, FL; Lisa and Neal Brown of Sneads, FL; Ricky and Lisa Lawrence of Sneads, FL; Debbie and Steve Carver of Spindale, NC; Terry Walker of Rutherfordton, NC; Kathy Spangler of Forest City, NC; Sharon Buchanan of Rutherfordton, NC; Maria Conner of Rutherfordton, NC; Gladys and Wade Weinell of Tiger, GA; Hat, Donna and Tommy Turner of Lake Alfred, FL.

Clara's many interest included travel, Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox baseball, Duke Blue Devil's Basketball, and the Ladies Prayer Group and luncheons.

A service to celebrate Clara's life was held at Crowe's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Scott Cortney and Phyllis Briscoe officiating.

A graveside service was held at Shady Grove Cemetery in Grand Ridge, FL. James & Sikes Funeral Home in Marianna, FL will be assisting with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County P.O. Box 336 Forest City, NC 28043.

Crowe's Mortuary is assisting the family.
