Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Cook Ward, age 80

Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Cook Ward, age 80, of the Oakland Community passed away September 4, 2013. 

Dot was a daughter of the late Rev. W.A. and Mae Cook and was the loving wife of the late E. Hicks Ward. Dot was retired from A & G Construction Company and devoted her retirement years to her grandchildren, her gardening, and her churches. At Adaville Baptist Church, Dot was a tireless volunteer and a Sunday School Teacher for four decades. She was also a long-time board member and volunteer at the Church of the Exceptional.

Dot is survived by her children: Jean Fletcher and husband Robert, Steve Ward and wife Carol, Cathy Therrell and husband Charlie; grandchildren: Benjamin Fletcher, Emily Byers and husband Scott, John Ward and fiancé Catalina, Eleanor Ferrier and husband Andrew, Jill Beaver and husband Brent, Betsy Friedrich and husband Stephen, Sarah Riska and husband Josh; great grandchildren: Sarah Grace Friedrich and Holden Grace Riska; one brother Warren Cook and wife Thea. 

Dot is also survived by Dorlis, Cheryl, Lisa, Patsy and Karen whose loving care allowed her to remain at home.

A celebration of her life was held at Adaville Baptist Church with Rev. Cal Sayles officiating. Concluding services will be held at Adaville Baptist Church Cemetery.
