Mrs. June White Haynes, 92, formerly of Cliffside, went to her heavenly home August 13, 2017.

She was the daughter of the late Cecil Smith and Ruth McElrath White. She and her husband Grover Cleveland Haynes, JR. were married for 70 years until his death on November 25, 2016. June attended Winthrop College and became a Home Economics teacher. Later she became a Science teacher in the South Carolina school system and was voted Teacher of the year in 1979 in her Greenville school system. She was an honorary member of the Saluda, NC Women's Club and a member of the Western North Carolina Quilters Guild. One of her greatest accomplishments was having one of her quilts on display in the Biltmore House in Asheville.

Mrs. Haynes was also preceded in death by a brother Glenn White.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Philip Haynes and wife Frances of Mauldin, SC and Bruce Haynes of Greenville, SC; three granddaughters; two grandsons; six great granddaughters; one brother, John C. White and wife Betty; sister in law, Betty Jean White; two nieces, Debbie Galloway and husband Cecil, Ruth Underwood and husband Shannon.

A Celebration of her life was held at Cliffside United Methodist Church, with Pastor Robert Hodgens officiating. Final resting place will be at Cliffside Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside.
