Mrs. Lois Guffey Hunt, age 91

Mrs. Lois Guffey Hunt, age 91, of Rutherfordton, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015.

A lifelong resident of Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Ussie and Perry Guffey, and widow of the late Glen Halson Hunt. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, a graduate of Cool Springs High School, and retired as a seamstress in the sample department at Tanner Company. Lois enjoyed sewing, decorating at home, collecting dolls and glassware, singing and playing the piano. In their last years together, she and her husband, Glen, enjoyed many trips to the Jamestown flea market in Morganton, NC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Guffey Wilson, and brother Amos Cecil Guffey.

Survivors include her children, Bill Hunt and wife Bobbie, Lucy H. Flack and husband Ken, and Scott Hunt and wife Tammy, all of Rutherfordton, NC, and Julie Hunt of Morganton, NC; seventeen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, her cousins, Frances Henson and Cyrus Wilkie, Jr; sisters-in-law, Joyce Huntley Guffey of Shiloh and Geneva Metcalf and husband Fred of Mt. Vernon; and brother-in-law, John Norman Hunt and wife Esther of Raleigh, NC, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held in the Padgett & King Chapel with Rev. Don Crawford officiating. Interment followed in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shiloh Baptist Church, 1850 Poors Ford Road, Rutherfordton, NC 28139 or to the church of the donor's choice.

The Padgett & King Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
