Mrs. Mildred Edgerton Waters, age 97

Mrs. Mildred Edgerton Waters, age 97, of Rutherfordton, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018.

She was a native of Rutherford County and the daughter of the late Harris Edgerton and the late Estelle Weeks Edgerton. She was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Mildred was one of ten children and was the mascot for the 1st graduating class of the old Mount Vernon High School. She was a loving mother and grandmother, loved to be outdoors to garden and loved to cook. She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin A. Waters.

She is survived by: One Son: Harry Waters of Rutherfordton. One Daughter: Nancy Pelletier of Missoula, Montana. One Sister: Ethel Metcalf of Rutherfordton. One Brother: Hoyle Edgerton Sr. of Rutherfordton. Two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The graveside service was held at Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev Dr. Scott Courtney and Rev Don Hollifield officiated. Interment was held at Mount Vernon Baptist Cemetery.
