Mrs. Mildred Shehan passed away on September 7, 2015.

She was born in Union Mills, NC on September 12, 1918, the beloved daughter of Mary Ocena and William Edward Clarke. She was the seventh of nine children.

Mildred spent most of her life in Spindale, NC and was a salutatorian graduate of R-S Central High School. She was a homemaker, and a devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mildred was a caretaker for her mother, sisters and her husband. She was a life-long member of Spindale United Methodist Church and a life member of the United Methodist Women which she especially enjoyed. She loved gardening, especially flowers which she loved to share with others. She also loved various arts and crafts, particularly sewing and quilting.

She was a loving mother to her two daughters who survive her, Linda Shehan of Mountain Lakes, NJ and Nina Shehan and her husband Gary Boneno of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by three grandsons, Mac McNeer and his wife Jennifer of Chicago, B McNeer of Atlanta, Stephen McNeer of NJ, two granddaughters, Madeline and Isabelle Boneno of Charlotte, and two great grandsons, Connor and Gavin McNeer of Chicago and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, L.B. Shehan, her parents, her 8 siblings and many loved brother and sisters in law.

Mrs. Shehan relocated to Charlotte, NC in 1999 and lived the rest of her life at The Cypress where she enjoyed making new friends and traveling. She maintained her positive outlook on life even to the end of her life and brought much joy to many. The family is especially thankful to the staff of The Stewart Health Center at The Cypress of Charlotte for their love and care and Hospice and Palliative Care of the Charlotte Region for their kindness and support.

A memorial service was held in the sanctuary at Spindale United Methodist Church.
