Mrs. Ruby Johnson Parris, age 89

Mrs. Ruby Johnson Parris, age 89, of Cliffside, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 30, 2017.

She was born on August 26, 1927 to the late Andrew and Alice Putman Johnson and was also preceded in death by her brothers, Herman, Earl, Wade and Bobo Johnson and sister, Helen Johnson. Ruby was preceded in death by her infant grandson, Joseph Paul Fasolino.

Ruby is survived by her husband, Leroy Parris after 72 wonderful years together. She is also survived by her daughter Jo Anne Fasolino and husband Joe, and daughter, Peggy Hamrick, widow of Roger. Ruby also was blessed with the joy of two granddaughters; and 5 great grandchildren.

She graduated with honors from Cliffside High School in 1945 and furthered her education in Cecil's Business College. Ruby worked at Cliffside Mills (later owned by Cone Mills) as a secretary in the office and later was secretary to the Manager, she finished her forty-year career as Supervisor in the Supply Room. Ruby was always active in church and had many hobbies including gardening, cooking, sewing, needlepoint and making their house a home. She loved reading, doing various types of puzzles, playing with her granddaughters and great grandchildren, traveling and camping at the beach.

Funeral service was held at State Line Baptist Church with Revs. Kris Showen and Mike Sepaugh. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside is serving the Family.
