Mrs. Sarah E. McFarland, 86, of Forest City, NC, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2010. Services were held at Harrelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Sunset Memorial Park.
Mrs. McFarland was preceded in death by her parents, Marion Buckner and Mattie Bradburn Buckner; and 3 brothers, Jack Buckner, Howard Buckner and Kirmeth Buckner.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, John A. McFarland; 1 son, David McFarland and wife Edith of Forest City; 1 niece, Cathy Jean Dugger and husband Ronald “Ron” of Athens, Alabama; 1 grandson, Danny McFarland and wife Brenda of Rutherfordton, (both Cathy and Danny were raised by Sarah and were considered to be a son and daughter); 1 sister, Emma Irene Buckner of Rutherfordton; 2 granddaughters; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Harrelson Funeral Home, Caroleen, NC is serving the family.
