Nancy Jane (Tate) Blanton, 83, of Staunton, Virginia passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019.

Nancy was born in Forest City, NC on December 31, 1935 and attended Cool Springs High School in Forest City. She obtained her Associates Degree from Limestone College in Gaffney, SC., married her high school sweetheart Frederick E. Blanton, Sr, and together raised three children. Nancy developed a successful career as a commodities trader, and lived many years in Huntsville, AL and St. Louis, MO, before retiring to Staunton.

Nancy was an avid golfer and continued to enjoy following the sport in her retirement. She was also an enthusiastic fan of baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves and the St. Louis Cardinals. Nancy was a very proud Tennessee Squire for Jack Daniels for over 30 years. In her later years, she enjoyed being a member of a local Staunton bridge club, who she considered some of her best friends.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Eugene and Virginia Mae (Beamer) Tate. Family members include a son, Frederick E. Blanton, Jr. and husband, Bobby A. Barron of Staunton; two daughters, Lisa Blanton and husband, Norman Froscher, of Royal Palm Beach, FL and Beverly Blanton Provost and husband, Marc, of Coral Springs, FL; a sister, Emily Tate Christopher of Dalton, GA; three grandchildren; her niece, Stephanie C. Marshall, and husband Kelly of Tallahassee, FL; her nephew, Todd Bardin Christopher of Atlanta, GA; and an aunt, Rebecca Beamer Heckard, of Savannah, GA

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2019, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel, in Staunton. Burial will follow immediately in Thornrose Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Augusta Health Foundation, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939. Condolences may be sent to the Blanton Family at 200 Federal Street, Staunton VA 24401. Flowers are requested through Nancy's local favorite Honey Bee's Florist at (540) 887-1221.

The Henry Funeral Home is serving the family.
