Nannie Pannell Conner went to be with the Lord on May 4, 2015.

She graduated from Glenwood High School in 1952 and was a long time resident of the Gilkey community. Those who knew her know what a kind and caring person she was. She was always the same and never complained. She was a loving mother, grandmother great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, and took great joy in caring for her family. Among her hobbies, Nannie enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her parents Orvis Pannell and Alta Jones Pannell, a twin sister Annie Pannell, her husband of 61 years Robbie Conner, and a daughter Susan Logan.

Survivors include two sons, Warren Conner and wife Laura, Michael Conner and wife Sallie, three daughters, Sheila McCurry, Rita Stroud and husband Dewey, Amy Lancaster and husband James, a brother, Paul Pannell and wife Faye, twelve grandchildren, Mishel Crotts, Jessica Upton, Jennifer Conner, Whitney Moody, Dustin McCurry, Dillon Conner, Taylor Stroud, J.P. Conner, Sarah McCurry, Conner Stroud, Lucy Logan, Larsyn Lancaster, and nine great grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at Montford Cove Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Jim Whitlow and Reverend Tom Runyon officiating. Interment was private for the immediate family in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, Post Office Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.

The Padgett and King Mortuary of Forest City is in charge of arrangements.
