In 2006 Barley’s Taproom Pizzeria opened in downtown Spindale. The restaurant was like stepping back in time. The historic building was built 1920’s and was once “Sloan Drug Store”. The 3500 square foot building was remodeled for an old time feel and the walls were lined with photographs to honor the textile tradition that helped build the town of Spindale.

Mark and Linette Gosnell are partners and primary operators of a unique place that the entire family can enjoy. You can watch as  experienced chefs prepare your food right in front of you. Kids love watching the pizza dough fly through the air, as the dough gets bigger and bigger. The family atmosphere is not just for the customers, as many of the staff have worked together for years, with seven of the original staff still there since its beginning.

Walk through the doors any weekend and hear live Jazz, Bluegrass, Country and Americana music. Every last Wednesday of the month you can even be a star yourself during  “Open Mic Night”, where all you have to do is show up and perform.

March 1st, Barley’s will have a grand opening to showcase their expansion and renovations. After everything is complete, the restaurant will be over 7,000 square feet, twice the size as the original layout. There will be over twenty beers on tap and the same great food and entertainment, that made the expansion possible. In true Barley’s fashion the grand opening will be a cancer benefit for Roger Padgett, a member of the band  “Tater”, who often perform at the pizzeria and taproom.
