The announcement was made today by Donna McCann, Chamber president and chairman of the executive board selection committee.
“Mr. Poole brings great enthusiasm to the Chamber that we believe will serve us well as we deal with the many challenges facing us,” McCann said. “We received many applications from outstanding candidates from the area but feel Mr. Poole is the best fit for this position.”
Poole holds a Masters degree from Duke University and a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Pfeiffer University. He has over 25 years experience in team building and training. Poole has already set goals he wishes to accomplish his first year on the job. “Our county has experienced extreme financial and self image hardships over the last several years. It is my belief that in every adversity there lies opportunity. The Chamber can be the driving force in growing business that brings positives for the entire county. The stronger our businesses become and our citizens exude pride, the more likely new business will be attracted to our wonderful county,” Poole stated.
He and his wife, Theresa, live in Rutherfordton. They have one daughter, one son and one grandson.
