Rutherford Regional Health System recently purchased a new piece of equipment to assist our patients who are unable to use the traditional Nurse Call system. Patient Justin Cole, shown with Catawba Valley Respiratory Therapy student, Jose Bandek-Nunez, is the first patient to use the new Breathcall device. The device connects to the headboard and when the patient blows into the mouthpiece the nurse call is activated. Justin, a quadriplegic patient, is very pleased that he has the assurance that in the event he needs immediate help, he now has the ability to activate the Nurse Call system himself, without having to rely on a family member being with him at all times. Rutherford Regional thanks its Cardiopulmonary, Materials Management and IT departments for making this possible.
