The Forest City Owls are proud to announce the return of three more players from the 2012 squad. RHP Jake Padgett from USC-Aiken, 3B Nick McQuail from Marist and OF Kurt Seiders from Millersville will all be back for a second season in Forest City, bringing the total number of returning players to six.

Padgett is coming off one of the best seasons ever by a Forest City Owls pitcher, as he excelled in his role as closer. During the 2012 season, he made 25 appearances and posted an incredible 0.81 ERA with nine saves. He held opposing hitters to a .157 batting average, and struck out 31 in just 33.1 innings pitched. Padgett was named to the 2012 Coastal Plain League All-Star team and will be one of the top returning pitchers in the league this season. A native of Gilbert, South Carolina, the 6-0 and 165 pound Padgett made 19 appearances for USC-Aiken as a sophomore last season, posting a 1.69 ERA.

“It is great to have Padgett back for the 2013 season,” added Owls manager David Tufo. “He was an All-Star pitcher in 2012, and we look for him to pick up right where he left off.”

The 6-1 and 195 pound McQuail was a late addition to the Owls roster last season, but he proved to be a very valuable one. He would play in 38 games, starting 32 at third base, and posted a .277 batting average with 17 RBIs and three homeruns. He was second on the team in walks with 25 and had a .430 on base percentage. Also a threat outside of the batter’s box, McQuail also had 10 stolen bases and was one of the Owls top defensive infielders. Hailing from MacArthur High School in Wantagh, New York, McQuail started all 49 games for Marist last season, hitting .292 with 24 RBIs.

“McQuail comes back to the Owls after a solid season in 2012,” said Tufo. “He gives us a good bat and solid defense at third base. He will bring a veteran presence to the clubhouse and will be a key component to our success this year.”

Joining Nate Chong and T.J. Sutton is Kurt Seiders, who will make for a complete return in the outfield for the Owls. Seiders started 41 games in Forest City last season, hitting .255 with 13 RBIs and five doubles. A terrific defensive presence, he also posted a perfect fielding percentage and added nine stolen bases. At 6-1 and 180 pounds, Seiders was a huge surprise for Millersville as a freshman, winning the starting spot in left field and turning in one of the best freshman seasons in the programs history. He was named to the All-PSAC East First Team after he hit .329 with 31 RBIs and three triples.

“Seiders brings back experience to the Owls. He adds depth to the outfield and is a great defender. He will be in the mix in a very talented outfield” said Tufo.

Padgett, McQuail and Seiders were all prominent members on the 2012 Owls squad, and they helped the team to a 34-22 record and a fifth straight appearance in the Petitt Cup Playoffs.
