The Forest City Owls have announced the signing of two assistant coaches for the 2013 season in Chris Torgerson and Kyle Putnam.

Chris Torgerson is entering his first season as an assistant coach with the Owls. Chris is a Sacramento California native and graduated from Willamette University with a degree in political science. Chris is currently the Pitching coach at Metropolitan State University of Denver, Colorado. He also coached Walker Transmission Baseball Club to the 2011 Rocky Mountain Baseball League Conference Tournament Title and advanced to the 2011 NBC World Series in Wichita, Kansas. He currently resides in Denver, Colorado.

“Chris is a great competitor that knows what it takes to win,” said Owls Head Coach David Tufo. “He has an aggressive coaching philosophy and will be able to do great stuff with the pitchers this summer. He knows the game beyond his years and I am excited to have him on the staff this summer.”

Also added to Tufo’s staff is Kyle Putnam. Kyle is entering his first season as an assistant coach with the Owls. Kyle will be the first ever Forest City Owls Alumni to come back as a coach for the Owls. Kyle is currently in his first year as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the Mount Saint Mary Knights in New York. He currently resides in Newburgh, New York.

“Kyle has proven to be a winner through his playing years at Marist, as well as on the Forest City Championship Team from 2010,” added Tufo. “He is a hungry young coach looking to expand his knowledge of the game. He will be a great asset to the coaching staff.”

“Both of these coaches bring a lot of energy to the coaching staff and know what it takes to win at this level. I am excited to have such an enthusiastic staff this summer and expect a lot of great things for the Owls in 2013,” said Tufo.
