Paul B. Kersey, age 92, of Ellenboro, NC, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2013.

Born April 4, 1921 in Fayette County, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Homer Boyd Kersey and Lena Marie McDaniel Kersey.  Paul was a US Army veteran who served in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church and also a member of the Knights of Columbus.  He worked for DuPont Industries for many years before his retirement and took great pride in doing yard work.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of almost 68 years, Elizabeth Walker Kersey; two sisters, Mary D. Dunlap and Taffetta A. Schnell.

Survivors include two sons, Fr. Paul B. Kersey and John D. Kersey and his wife, Ethel Vina all of Honduras; two daughters, Donna M. Kersey of Rutherfordton and Mary C. Rappold of West Virginia; brother, Ray Kersey of Rutherfordton. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass was conducted at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Paul Kersey, Jr. and Rev. Deacon Andy Cilone officiating. Interment followed in Eternal Hills Cemetery with military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.  

Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC  28043 or to the Immaculate Conception Debt Retirement Fund, 1024 W. Main Street, Forest City, NC  28043.
