PAWS of Rutherford County will host their First Annual PAWS Pet Fest at Morse Park in Lake Lure, Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Morse Park is located between the Hickory Nut Gorge Visitor Center and Lake Lure Marina on Highway 64/74A or 2948 Memorial Highway.

Families and pets are invited to attend the many fun filled activities planned on the beautiful shores of Lake Lure. There will be The Blessing of the Animals at 11:00 am facilitated by Father Wesley Shields of The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, Bat Cave. Pet adoptions will be available throughout the day with many amazing dogs and cats looking for their forever homes. Lezle Stein of Handle With Care Dog Training will offer FREE dog training advice through a holistic approach based on her vast experience working with pets of Hollywood celebrities, executives, and music personalities, including Tia Torres' Villalobos Pit Bull Rescue featured on the hit Animal Planet program Pit Bulls and Parolees. Jim Neugass of Forever Friends Photography Service will provide high-quality, digital photographs to treasure for a lifetime. He will offer each customer a 15-minute, professional, photo shoot session with backdrop and lighting at an affordable price. Doctors and staff from Foothills Veterinary Hospital of Forest City will be on hand to answer any questions and provide information regarding pet health and wellness. TNR Information and live trap demonstrations will be offered by Debra Jones, PAWS Volunteer and a member of the Alley Cat Allies and Feral Friends Network. Joe Goodwin of MBrace Massage and Body Work will provide invigorating and rejuvenating chair massages with all proceeds donated to PAWS.

There will be a Drawing with great prizes including two lawn tickets for the Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy Backyard BBQ show in Charlotte, on Friday, Sept. 15th. Other prizes will include pet gift baskets and accessories. To enter the prize drawing, please bring a new, unopened bag of dog/puppy or cat/kitten food.

For everyone's safety and comfort, all pets should be properly leashed or contained and up-to-date on all vaccinations. PAWS will provide water, treats, doggie play pools, and a large shaded tent, but owners must bring clean-up bags for their pets.
