Pearl Bromberg (nee Lisansky) passed away peacefully in her 95th year on January 3, 2018.

Survived by her daughter Debbi Stanfield and husband Craig Stanfield of Rutherfordton, her son, Dr. Kenneth Bromberg and his wife Dr. Philippa Gordon of Brooklyn NY, four granddaughters, two great granddaughters and many cousins both here and abroad. Predeceased by her husband Oscar, her brother Dr. Milton Lisansky and sister Rhoda Salz.

Pearl was born in Bronx in and raised her children in Little Neck Queens. After retirement she spent many years in Delray Beach, FL and in Lee, MA. Retired in 1980, Pearl, a teacher with the New York City Board of Education for 33 years, taught Health Education at Andrew Jackson High School and then John Baum High School in Flushing Queens where she was the Dean of Girls.

Both Pearl and Oscar were proud NYC teachers and Union members who cared very much about teaching.

She had a great sense of humor up until the end. She loved to play tennis and volunteered at Tanglewood during her many summers living at The Villages of October Mountain and went to theater and dance events in the Berkshires with her best friend Gladys Botie of Pompano Beach, FL.

When her daughter and son-in-law retired and settled on their farm in June of 2013, Pearl came with them. She enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the horses graze and the beautiful seasons the area has to offer. We thank her caretakers Sandy, Linda and Patricia for all the love and kindness they showed her and were thankful for the help from Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. If anyone would like to make a tax-deductible donation in her memory, please send to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, PO Box 336 Forest City, NC 28043.

Morris Funeral Home of Asheville served the family.
