Polly Smith Nolan, age 80

Polly Smith Nolan, age 80 of Forest City passed away Friday, June 5, 2015.

She was born November 18, 1934 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late W. Wade and Bessie Dobbins Smith. Polly was a graduate of Cool Springs High School, a member of Florence Baptist Church and was a longtime member of the former Alexander Baptist Church. She worked as an Executive Assistant for the Doncaster/Tanner Companies where she retired after forty years of service. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Leroy Nolan who died in 2013.

Survivors include her brother Eldon Smith and wife Doris of Hendersonville, her sister, Eris Allen of Rutherfordton, and sister-in-law, Flossie Nolan of Hickory, as well as her nieces and nephews, Ted Allen, Jill Svrjcek and husband Albert, Steve Smith, Kent Smith and wife Tami, Jimmy Smith , Rodney Smith and wife Donna, Gary Nolan and wife Dana, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

The Funeral was held in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Dr. Bobby Gantt officiating. Mrs. Nolan will be interred with her husband in the Western North Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.
