Post 423 falls in playoffs

Rutherford County had a stellar year. Losing just once in the regular season, but it all came to an end in the second round of the playoffs. A 21-5 record for the legion baseball team is among one of the best in County history. Unfortunately, the season came to an end much earlier than we all would have liked. If there is some good news, many of those guys have a year of eligibility left unless the rules change.

The Owls

Forest City (21-17) has won 5 of its last 6 games and still hold a three game lead to make the playoffs. They have 12 regular season games remaining, but the Hi-Toms (27-4) have been the team to beat in the West all season.


I am sure Kyle Busch didn't like it much, but Kevin Harvick caught and pushed Kyle Busch aside in the closing laps to win in New Hampshire. That could come back to haunt Harvick, but we already know Busch is intimidated by Harvick just in past run-ins. The clash has always festered, but not always shown between the two. Like I said a couple of weeks ago...rivalries are good for the sport.


Maybe there is another event win in Tiger Woods future. The guy just finished tied for sixth this past weekend. Heck, maybe he even has a Major victory ahead of him. The last decade has been a tough one for Woods, but despite all the hoopla of the last few years, we are still watching Tiger.

And finally, High School Football season starts back on Monday the 30th with first practice. Less than a month and games will be played. A number of people are looking forward to such, including me.
