Rachel Pinson Walker Gordon, age 83

Rachel Pinson Walker Gordon, age 83 of Forest City passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017. Rachel was born April 15, 1934 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Alma Green Pinson. She worked in textiles as a cloth inspector most of her life and was a member of Missionary Wesleyan Church for more than fifty years. Rachel loved listening to gospel and country music and enjoyed attending singings. She spent her time tending her flowers and her greatest joy was caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Walker and her second husband, Edgar "Red" Gordon as well as her brothers and sisters which she loved, Joe Pinson, Clyde Pinson, Jasper Pinson, Daisy Carver, Ruth Hutchins, and Virginia Pinson and a nephew, Steve Pinson, and niece, Brenda Walden.

Survivors include her daughters, Beverly W. Lavender and husband Johnny of Ellenboro, Angela W. Duffield and husband Kent of Hickory, two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a God child, several nieces and a nephew.

Funeral services were held in The Padgett and King Chapel with the Reverend Steve Beam officiating. Interment followed in the Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
