Prep hoops roundup
East Rutherford’s boys (12-3, 8-1) and girls swept the two games they played this week. The Cavalier boys on a roll as they have picked seven straight wins and hold second in the SMAC behind Shelby. They possibly host Veritas on Thursday (Jan. 23) and go to Burns (Jan. 28) followed by huge game at Shelby on the Friday (Jan. 31).

I am not such a bad prognosticated after all. I picked three of the four NFL games right and both Central-East basketball outcomes over this past weekend. And yes, the only one I got wrong was Carolina, but we will talk about that later.

R-S Central showed well at home, but East Rutherford’s boys had just enough to get by in a 63-53 game on the basketball court this past week. Too much Devonte Boykins and company, plus a solid defensive effort keep the Cavaliers on a five game winning streak.
Last summer a powerful lightning strike destroyed our entire high ropes course in one brief second. The bolt struck a massive oak tree in the middle of the course and traveled through steel cables to the other trees and climbing tower, blowing out massive chunks of wood at each connection point along the way.
I have been privileged over the years to spend time at some hunting and fishing trade shows. These shows are where retailers come to meet those who have products for sale. The exhibitors set up booths and displays in order to expose and tell about this year’s new model or the latest new gadget. It really is fun and you get to meet a lot of nice people

On the basketball court, it is rivalry week with East Rutherford facing R-S Central on Friday (1/10).
East has relied on Travis Waldroup-Rodriguez and Devonte Boykins all season long. Kaleb McEntire on defense, Shakari Jackson, and Trey Dawkins have stepped up, but will it be enough against a R-S Central who has a little more depth.

Do you decorate?
I really love the Christmas and New Year’s holidays what with all of the decorations. You go to an office building, there are decorations. You go shopping, there are decorations. You drive through a neighborhood, there are many fine examples of exterior illumination displays that would make Griswold envious. Even some truckers hang wreaths on the front of their rigs to celebrate.
But then all the decorations come down and are put back into their out-of-the-way hiding places, destined to gather dust until next season. Everything looks rather plain, doesn’t it? Even barren of anything that resembles a celebration.
She’s one of nine children and has been a nurse for forty-three years. It was in the last twenty three years that she found the true meaning of what nursing is about. Since she joined Hospice of Rutherford County it “became her home”. To Cindy LaFon, Hospice defined what nursing should be. It is the “heart of nursing”. Nobody, absolutely nobody, can give you what Hospice offers.
Rutherford County Chess Club
