Reverend Thomas “Hoss” Irvin, 74, of Shelby, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014. 

A native of Cleveland County, he was born on December 14, 1939, a son of the late Lee and Annie Connor Irvin. He was a well digger for 30 years and was the former pastor and a current member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Kingstown.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Marie Wall Irvin; four sons, Danny Irvin, Thomas Irvin, Jr., Chad Irvin and wife Cylee, all of Shelby and Chris Higgins, of Gaffney, SC; four daughters, Catherine Irvin, Denise Irvin, both of Shelby, Tina Hawkins and husband Ronnie of Mooresboro, and Amy Reynolds and husband Tim of Ellenboro; one brother, Clifford Irvin of Shelby; two sisters, Daisy Williams of Shelby and Dorothy Tate of Caroleen; 21 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Rev. Irvin’s Life was held at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Kingstown with the Rev. Joe Sparks officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. 

Memorial donations are suggested to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 2305 Kingstown Road, Shelby, NC 28152.

McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral and Cremation Service is serving the Irvin family.
