Richard Dix Justice

Richard Dix Justice, passed away on February 24, 2019.

He was born on August 2, 1928 in Davidson, NC. He was the son of the late George P. and Bertha L. Justice. He was a graduate of Mooresville High School and attended Pfeiffer University. Upon graduating from school, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Valley Forge as an Electronic Technician Mate in World War II. After 35 years, Richard retired as a branch manager at Trans South Financial institution. For 40 years he was an active real estate agent, focusing on land sale. He received the status of Realtor Emeritus for 40 years in the National Association of Realtors. Richard loved his community, serving in leadership capacities including the Town of Rutherfordton, North Carolina Planning and Zoning Board and the Economic Development Advisory Committee. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Rutherfordton. He was an active Mason in the Western Star Lodge 91, a member of the Scottish Rites in Asheville, and a member of the Oasis Shrine Temple in Charlotte.

He is preceded in death by his four siblings, George Justice, Jack Justice, Robert Justice, and Nan Patterson. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Laverne Davis Justice, his children Donna J. Stephenson (Mike), Jack D. Justice (Deborah), Dee Dee Justice, his 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive him.

The Memorial Service was held at First Baptist Church, Rutherfordton. A private family burial with Masonic Rites will take place at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in memory of Mr. Justice to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, PO Box 335, Forest City, NC 28043.
