Richard Luther Gundel “Dick”, age 88

Richard Luther Gundel “Dick”, age 88 of Lake Lure, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014. 

A native of Albany, NY, he was the son of the late Luther and Dorothea Stegemann Gundel .He was a graduate of Yale University and attended graduate school at Syracuse University. 

Dick was a district manager for General Electric for 32 years. He was a member of Fairfield Mountains Chapel and a US Navy veteran of WWII, serving aboard the USS Providence from 1943-1947.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 31 years, Anne Cave Gundel of the home; sons Norman and Lynn Gundel of Cornelius, NC, Rick and Vanessa Gundel of Safety Harbor, FL and Robert Gundel of Houston, TX; 5 grandchildren; stepchildren Kathleen, Frank, Patrick, Michael and Kelly; sister in law Jean Gundel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Gundel.

Memorial services were held  at Fairfields Mountain Chapel with Rev. Everett Chapman officiating. Military honors were accorded by the Rutherford County Veteran’s Honor Guard.
