Robert "Bob" Franklin Rhyne, age 82, a resident of Waltonwood Providence, Charlotte, NC, formerly a resident of River Hills Community in Lake Wylie, SC, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016.

He was born in Kings Mountain, NC and raised in Ellenboro, NC. He was a son of the late Joseph Lamar Rhyne, Sr. and Elizabeth Byers Griffin Rhyne. Bob served in the Air Force for two and a half years, graduated from NC State in textile engineering and worked at Celanese Corporation his entire career. Bob was a member of the Friendship Masonic Lodge #388, AF & AM. He loved golf, the Panthers, and spending time with his family and friends. Traveling the world for work and pleasure, his favorite place remained Ellenboro. He was preceded in death by his son, Alan Craig Rhyne in 2012, a sister, Betty Blair Rhyne Owens, and two brothers, William Q. Rhyne and Joseph L. "Joe" Rhyne, Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Doris Philbeck Rhyne; a daughter, Teresa Rhyne Wolfe and husband Gary of Charlotte, NC; daughter-in-law, Debra Harris Rhyne of Belmont, NC; his three grandchildren and one great grandchild; as well as three brothers, John Griffin Rhyne of Mooresville, NC, James Chivas Rhyne and Myron Thomas Rhyne both of Ellenboro, NC.

Funeral services were held in the Corinth Baptist Church in Ellenboro with Reverend Ad Hopper officiating. Interment followed the service in the Church Cemetery.
