Robert Carl (Buck) Curtis, 86, of Lexington, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2011. Graveside services were held at Cleveland Memorial Park with military honors by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.

Mr. Curtis served our country in the US Army during World War II in General George Patton’s Third Army.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Jolly Curtis; his second wife, Martha Julian Curtis; his parents, William Everatt and Mary Bowen “Lissie” Curtis; one step-grandson, Adam Robert Smith; four sisters, Minnie Padgett, Ruth Bridges, Maude Nanny and Dorothy Scruggs; and two brothers, William John “Jack” Curtis and Chivous Curtis.

He is survived by his daughter, Joan Curtis Redman and husband Edwards; seven grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; one step-daughter, Lynn York Smith and husband Robert; and one step-son, Hal Craig York and wife Lisa.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Carolina Organ Transplant Department, Medical University of South Carolina, 171 Ashley Ave., Charleston, SC 29425.

McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral Home is serving the family.
